The Five-Layer AI City Architecture moves toward scalable implementation

At the AI City pavilion, ASUS showcased the integration of its ASUS AIoT solutions, Taiwan AI Cloud, Askey, and ASUS MAAS to showcase a comprehensive AI City blueprint built on a five-layer architecture. The exhibition emphasized the Application layer with real-world deployments, highlighting how AI technology evolves from architectural design to city-level implementation, moving from proof-of-concept (PoC) toward scalable deployment.

  1. Sovereign Computing Layer: Covering urban infrastructure operation, data center technology, and edge computing capabilities, laying the foundation for national-level AI operation.
  2. Sovereign Model Layer: Focusing on locally optimized Large Language Models (LLM) and AI model technologies to ensure data sovereignty and application locality.
  3. Platform Layer: Integrating trusted data services and cross-system platform capabilities to support diverse urban application and governance needs.
  4. Application Layer: Based on the concept of a "National Urban AI Showcase," focusing on four core application areas: transportation, healthcare, security, and citizens' daily lives, alongside net-zero initiatives.
  5. Innovation Layer: Connecting national-level AI resources and industrial ecosystems, such as AI supercomputing accelerators and new applications, to drive long-term innovation momentum.

Taiwan AI Cloud builds Urban Sovereign AI infrastructure with full-stack capabilities

In recent years, Taiwan AI Cloud has participated in the construction and operation of multiple AI supercomputing centers and computing platforms across Taiwan, while also collaborating with the Tainan City Government to advance an AI City demonstration project. Through these accumulated real-world achievements, it has developed end-to-end expertise spanning from computing foundations to urban governance applications, positioning itself as a key player in exporting AI City solutions to international markets.

At the exhibition, Taiwan AI Cloud showcased its full-stack AI capabilities, offering a comprehensive package of AI computing infrastructure, localized models, AI platform services, and innovation accelerators. These solutions enable cities to quickly establish scalable AI infrastructure that meets cybersecurity and local governance requirements.

At the sovereign computing layer, Taiwan AI Cloud uses AI Foundry supercomputing capabilities as the core, showcasing AI infrastructure and computing rental services. By integrating high-performance AI servers, supercomputing resources, and computing-scheduling platforms, it provides localized AI environments that meet diverse needs across transportation, energy, public safety, and governance. At the same time, it ensures that data and computation remain securely operated within local boundaries, establishing a sovereign foundation for the AI era.

At the sovereign model layer, the Formosa Foundation Model was showcased as a locally trained large language model. The Formosa model focuses on localized use scenarios, embedding regional linguistic data and domain expertise to create an intelligent governance decision engine aligned with cultural context, legal frameworks, and public services requirements. With private deployment and trusted data architecture, sensitive information remains within local jurisdictions, ensuring that AI applications deliver higher efficiency while maintaining data sovereignty and governance control.

At the platform layer, Taiwan AI Cloud showcased the AI Inference Platform, AI Hub, and AI True Cloud digital twin platform, providing end-to-end capabilities from model development and inference deployment to integration with urban application scenarios. Through hybrid cloud-edge architecture and computing orchestration, cities can quickly deploy AI in smart transportation, public safety, energy management, and citizen services, while building city-scale digital twin environments.

The AIHPC supercomputing accelerator and AI innovation consortium were also presented in the innovation layer, connecting governments, enterprises, and AI start-ups. Together, they drive AI adoption across urban industries and foster new applications, accelerating innovation and supporting long-term urban transformation.

ASUS AIoT leads the application layer, expanding international cooperation

ASUS AIoT serves as the central integrator of AI City, taking on the core role in the Application layer. Its solutions span smart healthcare, smart security, and smart transportation – building comprehensive AI City applications through integrated hardware and software platforms. ASUS enhances urban efficiency, public safety, and sustainability, while demonstrating internationally validated solutions that can be replicated across cities.

In smart healthcare, solutions such as the ASUS xHIS® Next-Gen Healthcare Information Platform, ASUS VivoWatch, handheld ultrasound devices, and ASUS HealthHub help address challenges such as fragmented medical data, limited rural resources, and heavy workloads for healthcare professionals. Smart security is supported by the EHS Management Service, which uses image recognition to detect highrisk behaviors and unauthorized access to hazardous areas, helping improve safety management.

For smart transportation, ASUS collaborates with partners to deliver solutions including smart fleet management, computer-vision curbside management, intelligent logistics and warehousing, and city-scale smart streetlighting and infrastructure management platform. ASUS subsidiary Askey contributes diverse solutions, including smart bus stops, smart bus shelters, smart poles, and private 5G networks, enabling intelligent traffic control and vehicle-to-road coordination while expanding urban application scenarios. ASUS MAAS focuses on AI-powered smart parking solutions designed to transform urban mobility. By integrating AI dual-mode smart parking posts, real-time dynamic pricing management, and EV charging infrastructure, the platform enhances traffic efficiency while supporting the development of greener, more sustainable cities.

In addition, ASUS has been deeply engaged in the European smart city sector for many years, working closely with governments and city authorities across multiple countries, including France, Greece, and the Czech Republic. These collaborations have introduced advanced technologies into real public governance and city operations. The exhibition showcased multiple real-world implementations across smart transportation, public infrastructure, and city governance, demonstrating a strong alignment between ASUS’s solutions and European policy directions. The showcase also featured an autonomous driving solution developed in collaboration with international partners, integrating the EVO3 autonomous driving platform to demonstrate the integration capabilities and scalability of autonomous solutions for public transportation.

Furthermore, the ASUS ESG team, centered around the concept of “AI × Net Zero,” extends the company’s proven internal sustainability practices to industry and city applications. Through AI × ESG dual enablement, ASUS helps cities and enterprises accelerate their journey toward net-zero targets and advance long-term sustainable governance.

ASUS Maestro Intelligent Orchestration Platform redefines city service flows

At the Taiwan Smart City Solutions Alliance AI Robotics Zone, ASUS joined alliance members to present the ASUS Maestro Intelligent Orchestration Platform. Addressing the challenges faced by site operators, such as the fragmented deployment of heterogeneous devices and a lack of overall coordination, ASUS Maestro leverages a standardized API framework to break down integration barriers. This provides industry partners with an upgrade pathway that does not require large-scale customization, enabling AI City development to evolve from simple hardware aggregation into a high-performance intelligent collaboration system.

The live demonstration highlights ASUS Maestro’s integration of 360-degree panoramic views and multi-modal sensing technology, empowering sites with environmental awareness capabilities to enable precise decision-making. Through automated task handover, devices from different brands can seamlessly execute continuous services, ranging from visitor reception and realtime reporting to logistics and material delivery. This effectively eliminates service gaps and shifts smart services from passive responses to proactive collaboration, showcasing a transformation where technology integration leads to service-level innovation.
